Pikes Peak Hill Climb 2013 – Will we see the sub 9 minute time reached?

Last weekend we had one of the most iconic races in the world, the Le Mans 24hr.

This weekend it is the second oldest motorsport race, the Indy 500 holds the record for the oldest motorsport race,  and most famous hill climb in the world, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, held outside of Colorado Springs.

This years marks the 91st running of the event and the second year the event has been held on the fully paved road.

Rhys Millen Wins 2WD Time Attack Class at 2012 Pikes Peak Hill Climb in RMR Genesis Coupe

Last year Rhys Millen was the fastest ever man up the mountain in a time of 9:46.164 in his RMR Genesis Coupe.

This year he is back, but more about Rhys and Mr Loeb will follow in another post shortly.

The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is probably best know for the famous documentary called Climb Dance.

For those who have never heard of or seen Climb Dance, Climb Dance is a famous short film, featuring the great Finnish rally driver Ari Vatanen, driving a Peugeot 405 Turbo 16 GR at the 1988 event where he set a record time.

There are some interesting entrants in this year event, including three electric based raced cars with some amazing drivers behind the wheel.

This year will also be the first time the event has been live streamed to a world wide audience, starting from 8am Sunday local time, which is 1am Monday Australian time.
